As I’ve mentioned in previous newsletters, I was recently appointed to serve on the National Petroleum Council, a federally chartered advisory committee to the U.S. Secretary of Energy with respect to any matter involving oil and natural gas. In December, I will be attending my first meeting of the National Petroleum Council in Washington, D.C. as recently announced by Chair Jim Hackett, CEO of Anadarko Petroleum. In addition to remarks from the Secretary of Energy, Ernest Moniz, the Council will also consider the proposed final draft report of the National Petroleum Council’s Committee on Emergency Preparedness as well as a progress report on the work of the National Petroleum Council’s Committee on Arctic Research, of which I am a member. I will provide an updated report on this meeting in a future newsletter.
