On August 21st, I joined about 80 other Sitkans to participate in the Sawmill Creek Road Completion Celebration at Gary Paxton Industrial Park.  It was a beautiful day for the celebration and a picnic lunch hosted by the city.  The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities Commissioner Pat Kemp and Sitka Mayor Mim McConnell cut the ribbon.  The Sawmill Creek Road upgrade has been a project I and many others have worked on for over a decade.  My first session in the State Senate was in 2004 and since then we have secured $22.5 million in funding for this road and trail project ($11.7 million federal and $10.8 million state).
