Senate Bill (SB) 28, a priority bill of mine is now in position to pass the Legislature this session.  My colleagues in the Senate supported the bill by a 20-0 vote on the Senate floor this week.  The bill is now pending in the House.

SB 28 would provide the Petersburg Borough, with 12,770 more acres of land than it would have received from the State of Alaska as its land entitlement.

My staff and I started working on this bill with the Borough and the State of Alaska, Department of Natural Resources, back in September of 2016.  It takes a lot of work to pave the way for passage of a bill, and I am glad residents of Petersburg will have the chance to make good things happen from these lands.
