Norwegian Constitution Day or Syttende Mai (17th of May) is celebrated annually in Petersburg during their multi-day Little Norway Festival. I met with constituents and local officials including the visiting Norwegian Ambassador to the United States, Kåre R. Aas, and the Royal Norwegian Honorary Consul for Alaska, Lise Falskow during the festival weekend. The Petersburg community, Mayor Mark Jensen, and myself welcomed the visiting dignitaries including Alaska Governor Bill Walker, State Senator Donny Olson and his family.
