The Alaska Department of Transportation is now accepting comments on their proposed Alaska Marine Highway (AMHS) schedule for fall, winter, and spring of 2015 and 2016. The budget for AMHS has been reduced by 5% and they are proposing to significantly reduced service in Southeast Alaska, particularly in Wrangell, Petersburg, Ketchikan, and Prince Rupert by taking the M/V Taku out of service.
It’s very important that AMHS planners and schedulers know how the ferry schedule will affect your family, businesses, regional economies, and the Southeast lifestyle.
Written comments can be submitted via email to dot.amhs.comments@alaska.gov or by fax at 907-586-8365 before Tuesday, July 21, 2015.
Testimony will be taken via teleconference on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 starting at 10:00 am. The toll free number is 1-800-315-6338, conference code 03902#.
