As a father whose daughter attended kindergarten through high school graduation in Southeast, education is an issue that will always be a top priority. This week I was pleased to meet with several school officials in my district who were in Juneau for the Alaska Association of School Boards (AASB) Fly-In. There are thirteen school districts in District Q and several representatives from those schools attended an education forum I hosted on Tuesday, Feb. 11th. I spoke with students, parents, school administrators, school board members, and teachers. Education is in the forefront of legislative discussions this session and I’m working toward more adequate funding of our schools.
