I’m pleased to announce the ‘Ketchikan Story Project’ (produced by the Ketchikan Visitor’s Bureau) received three Emmy statuettes during the Northwest Regional Emmy Awards 50th Anniversary ceremony last month in Seattle. The Ketchikan Story Project is a series of multi-media documentaries about Ketchikan. Two segments of the project ‘Our Native Legacy’ and ‘The Artists’, were produced in 2012. Two additional segments, ‘The Timber Years’ and ‘The Bush Pilots’ debuted in May 2013.  ‘Our Native Legacy’ was voted Best Historical/Cultural Program, earning two Emmy Awards for Deby Santos, producer, and Laurel Lindahl, editor/producer.  Director Kyle Aramburo also won an Emmy for his post-production work on the segment.

The ‘Ketchikan Story Project’ also won six Telly Awards earlier this year. The Telly Awards are the premier awards for honoring outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, along with film and video productions. Its mission is to strengthen the visual arts community by inspiring, promoting and supporting creativity.  ‘Our Native Legacy’ received two silver awards, the ‘Ketchikan Story Project’ as a whole received two bronze awards, and ‘The Artists’ received a bronze award.

Winning three Emmy and six Telly awards is an outstanding achievement! Congratulations to the entire team.
