The second session of the 27th Alaska State Legislature convened this week in Juneau.  My staff and I are back in the Capitol and ready to go to work advancing Southeast issues during the next 90 days.  This session, I will continue to serve as Co-Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.  In that role, I serve as one of five members of the Senate leadership.  Along with Co-Chairman, Senator Lyman Hoffman, I will be responsible for scheduling legislation for hearings and drafting the state budget.  I will also serve on several committees that influence policy important to our district.  I will continue to work with colleagues in the Senate to advance Southeast issues and ensure responsible financial management of Alaska’s resources.

At the outset of this session, I have introduced memorial citations to honor three past Southeast leaders.  The citations salute the service of the late Judge Henry Clay Keene, former Rep. Ben Grussendorf, and former Rep. Carroll George Fader.  It’s important to recognize Alaskans who have worked to make our place a better state, and I was pleased to present these citations to the Legislature.
