{"id":702,"date":"2010-04-30T14:30:22","date_gmt":"2010-04-30T22:30:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/?p=702"},"modified":"2010-11-17T16:47:12","modified_gmt":"2010-11-18T01:47:12","slug":"disappointing-veto","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/?p=702","title":{"rendered":"Disappointing Veto"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was disappointed by the governor\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/aprn.org\/2010\/04\/29\/parnell-vetoes-bill-separating-oil-and-gas-taxes\/\" target=\"_blank\">veto<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.legis.state.ak.us\/basis\/get_bill.asp?bill=SB%20305&amp;session=26\" target=\"_blank\">Senate Bill 305<\/a>.\u00a0 The bill was a preventative measure to secure Alaska\u2019s finances by de-coupling our oil and natural gas taxes.<\/p>\n<p>Under current law, with the start of Transcanada\u2019s \u201cOpen Season\u201d, Alaska could be locked into a tax structure that costs our state billions of dollars in lost revenue.\u00a0 Estimates suggest that Alaska could lose-out on all our revenue from natural gas production, and up to 1\/3 of our oil revenue.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At this point legislative action on this issue has ended.\u00a0 While it\u2019s unfortunate the bill was not signed into law, the legislature now has better understanding of the complexities we\u2019ll need to tackle during future tax decisions for developing our natural gas resources.\u00a0 I\u2019m confident that fixing this anomaly in our tax structure will remain a top priority when fiscal terms for the pipeline are submitted to the legislature.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was disappointed by the governor\u2019s veto of Senate Bill 305.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[7,18,17],"class_list":["post-702","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-bert-stedman","tag-gas-pipeline","tag-oil"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/702","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=702"}],"version-history":[{"count":8,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/702\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1141,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/702\/revisions\/1141"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=702"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=702"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=702"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
