{"id":478,"date":"2010-03-30T14:30:26","date_gmt":"2010-03-30T22:30:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/?p=478"},"modified":"2010-11-17T16:30:10","modified_gmt":"2010-11-18T01:30:10","slug":"senate-passes-operating-budget","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/?p=478","title":{"rendered":"Senate Passes Operating Budget"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/Senator-Stedman-50.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-603\" title=\"Senator Stedman (50)\" src=\"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/Senator-Stedman-50-300x234.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"234\" srcset=\"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/Senator-Stedman-50-300x234.jpg 300w, http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/Senator-Stedman-50.jpg 984w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The Senate passed the FY2011 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.legis.state.ak.us\/basis\/get_bill.asp?session=26&amp;bill=HB 300\" target=\"_blank\">Operating Budget<\/a> today.\u00a0 The budget funds the workings of state government and provides for important public services.\u00a0 Part of my role on the Senate Finance Committee is working with colleagues in drafting appropriation bills.\u00a0 During this process the Senate made several revisions to the operating budget to make it more efficient.\u00a0 This included cutting $7 million from the governor\u2019s budget request, and only adding select items to meet the needs of Alaskans.<\/p>\n<p>The Senate included several provisions\u00a0in the budget that will benefit Southeast Alaska.\u00a0 The Alaska Travel Industry Association (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.alaskatia.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">ATIA<\/a>) received an additional\u00a0$5 million to bolster tourism marketing for our state.\u00a0 The Alaska Department of Fish &amp; Game received nearly $2 million to study changes in Alaska&#8217;s fisheries; including Southeast Sablefish and <a href=\"http:\/\/kcaw.org\/modules\/local_news\/index.php?op=sideBlock&amp;syndicated=true&amp;ID=998\" target=\"_blank\">Red King Crab<\/a> populations.\u00a0 The University of Alaska also received $300,000 to sustain <a href=\"http:\/\/seagrant.uaf.edu\/map\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Marine Advisory Program<\/a> offices in communities throughout Alaska including Petersburg.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m pleased with the Senate\u2019s work and look forward to advancing these issues during the last few weeks of session.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Senate passed the FY2011 Operating Budget today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[7,22,16,14],"class_list":["post-478","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-bert-stedman","tag-budget","tag-finance-committee","tag-fisheries"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/478","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=478"}],"version-history":[{"count":18,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/478\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":1129,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/478\/revisions\/1129"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=478"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=478"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=478"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
