It\u2019s hard to believe that 90 days have already passed and the first session of the 28th Legislature has come to an end. In the late hours of Sunday April 14th, the Senate and House adjourned. We will reconvene for the second session of the 28th Legislature on January 21st, 2014. Even though I\u2019m disappointed by the passage of SB 21, the Governor\u2019s oil tax reduction bill, I know my colleagues voted their conscious and they believe this is the right course of action to increase production on the North Slope. I certainly support responsible efforts to increase production but not at the expense of Alaskan families. SB 21 goes too far and gives away too much of Alaska\u2019s revenue from the legacy fields of Prudhoe and Kuparuk for what I fear will result in little in return. Only time will tell if this high stakes gamble will pay off and in the meantime, I will continue to be a strong voice in the Senate on behalf of those who own the oil\u2026Alaskans! The Legislature also accomplished many good things for Alaskans this session.
