Conley&#8217;s Passing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I was saddened to hear of the passing of <a href=\"http:\/\/krbd.org\/modules\/local_news\/index.php?op=centerBlock&amp;ID=297\" target=\"_blank\">J.C. Conley<\/a> this week.\u00a0 J.C. was a long-time community leader in Ketchikan who contributed a great deal to Alaska.\u00a0 Over the course of two decades he served in numerous leadership roles including three terms on the Ketchikan Borough Assembly, President of the Alaska State Chamber of Commerce, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.seconference.org\/jcconley.html\" target=\"_blank\">Southeast Conference<\/a> Board member, and a founding member of the Marine Transportation Advisory Board.\u00a0 I met J.C. during my first year in the Senate, and valued getting his perspective on important issues.\u00a0 The legislature passed a citaition honoring his memory and contribution to\u00a0Alaska.\u00a0 He was a strong voice for Alaska and will be missed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I was saddened to hear of the passing of J.C.
