{"id":276,"date":"2010-02-02T14:00:56","date_gmt":"2010-02-02T23:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/?p=276"},"modified":"2010-11-17T16:18:26","modified_gmt":"2010-11-18T01:18:26","slug":"swan-tyee-intertie-energized","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/?p=276","title":{"rendered":"Swan-Tyee Intertie Energized"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On <a href=\"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Senator-Stedman-Swan-Tyee-Address.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-330 alignright\" title=\"Senator Stedman Swan Tyee Address\" src=\"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Senator-Stedman-Swan-Tyee-Address-300x253.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"206\" \/><\/a>Friday I traveled to Ketchikan to attend Southeast Alaska Power Agency\u2019s (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seapahydro.org\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">SEAPA<\/a>) \u201cThrow-the-Breaker Party\u201d in celebration of the completion of the Swan-Tyee electrical intertie.\u00a0 Representative Johansen, Representative Wilson and I were happy to host U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski as well as a number of our fellow legislators who traveled from Juneau to attend this wonderful event. Attending the event were: Senator Kevin Meyer, Representative Bill Stoltze, Representative Charisse Millet, Representative Bill Thomas, Representative John Harris, Representative Bryce Edgmon, and Representative Jay Ramras.\u00a0 The Swan-Tyee Intertie has been a regional work-in-progress for over 30 years and completing it has been one of my top legislative priorities.<\/p>\n<p>The Swan-Tyee Intertie is a 57 mile long transmission line which connects the Swan Lake hydro project in Ketchikan with the Lake Tyee hydro project near Petersburg.\u00a0 The Intertie\u2019s completion integrates, for the first time, the electrical generation and transmission systems of Ketchikan, Wrangell and Petersburg.\u00a0 The connection allows the electrical utilities in each community, to work collaboratively to displace diesel generation, load balance and more efficiently distribute power between generation projects.<a href=\"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Senator-Stedman_Intertie-Celebration1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-333 alignleft\" title=\"Senator Stedman_Intertie Celebration\" src=\"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/Senator-Stedman_Intertie-Celebration1-300x242.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"267\" height=\"217\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Completion of Swan-Tyee is a significant milestone for Southeast Alaska and the first major component of a regional effort to advance <a href=\"http:\/\/kcaw.org\/modules\/local_news\/media\/pictures\/97intertiesystemplan.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">interconnected hydro power<\/a> throughout Southeast.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d like to thank Randy Johnson and Doug Ward of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.akship.net\/\" target=\"_blank\">Alaska Ship &amp; Drydock<\/a> for providing visiting legislators with an inside look at the impressive capabilities of the Ketchikan shipyard.\u00a0 As the state considers making significant financial investments into the construction of the new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dot.state.ak.us\/amhs\/alaska_class\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">Alaska Class Ferry<\/a>, it\u2019s important for us to showcase the world class vessel construction being done right here in Southeast Alaska.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Friday I traveled to Ketchikan to attend Southeast Alaska Power Agency\u2019s (SEAPA) \u201cThrow-the-Breaker Party\u201d in celebration of the completion of the Swan-Tyee electrical intertie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[11,7,8,10,9],"class_list":["post-276","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","tag-alaska-marine-highway","tag-bert-stedman","tag-energy","tag-ketchikan-shipyard","tag-southeast-intertie"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/276","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=276"}],"version-history":[{"count":23,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/276\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":278,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/276\/revisions\/278"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=276"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=276"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=276"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
