The first meeting was the Energy Council\u2019s 2012 Global Energy and Environmental Issues Conference held in New Orleans on December 6th \u2013 9th.\u00a0 A special guest at this conference was Alaska\u2019s Lieutenant Governor Mead Treadwell. Because of his expertise on Arctic policy matters, I invited the Lt. Governor to address the Council as part of a panel on the topic, \u201cLeadership and the Arctic &#8211; Why it Matters.\u201d\u00a0 The conference was extremely informative due in large part to Lt.
