{"id":1734,"date":"2012-01-19T08:43:39","date_gmt":"2012-01-19T17:43:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/?p=1734"},"modified":"2012-01-19T08:43:39","modified_gmt":"2012-01-19T17:43:39","slug":"27th-alaska-legislature-convenes-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/?p=1734","title":{"rendered":"27th Alaska Legislature Convenes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The second session of the 27th Alaska State Legislature convened this week in Juneau.\u00a0 My staff and I are back in the Capitol and ready to go to work advancing Southeast issues during the next 90 days.\u00a0 This session, I will continue to serve as Co-Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.\u00a0 In that role, I serve as one of five members of the Senate leadership.\u00a0 Along with Co-Chairman, Senator Lyman Hoffman, I will be responsible for scheduling legislation for hearings and drafting the state budget.\u00a0 I will also serve on several committees that influence policy important to our district.\u00a0 I will continue to work with colleagues in the Senate to advance Southeast issues and ensure responsible financial management of Alaska\u2019s resources.<\/p>\n<p>At the outset of this session, I have introduced memorial citations to honor three past Southeast leaders.\u00a0 The citations salute the service of the late Judge Henry Clay Keene, former <a href=\"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/?p=1543\">Rep. Ben Grussendorf<\/a>, and former Rep.
