{"id":1642,"date":"2011-10-04T13:00:19","date_gmt":"2011-10-04T21:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/?p=1642"},"modified":"2011-10-05T09:29:36","modified_gmt":"2011-10-05T17:29:36","slug":"elected-vice-chair-of-energy-council","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/?p=1642","title":{"rendered":"Elected Vice Chair of Energy Council"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Presenting-at-Energy-Council.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1644\" title=\"Presenting at Energy Council\" src=\"http:\/\/bertstedman.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Presenting-at-Energy-Council-300x230.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"285\" height=\"217\" \/><\/a>Last week I was elected Vice Chair of the Energy Council during the council\u2019s quarterly meeting in Anchorage.<\/p>\n<p>The Energy Council is a legislative organization with members from 11 states,\u00a05 provinces, and the country of Venezuela.\u00a0 Hosting the conference introduced policy-makers to Alaska and provided a first-hand understanding of our state\u2019s energy opportunities.\u00a0 The conference featured a variety of presentations, and included site visits to the North Slope and Cook Inlet.\u00a0 As part of the conference, I chaired a panel on northern energy resources in the global market.\u00a0 The panel included the premier of the Northwest Territories, the president of the Alyeska Pipeline Services Company, and an energy researcher from the University of Alberta.<\/p>\n<p>Energy Council meetings are a great forum for discussing energy policy with some of the most knowledgeable people in the world on these issues.\u00a0 Their conferences are a key part of our continued efforts to develop Alaska\u2019s energy resources.\u00a0 I\u2019ve served on the Energy Councils\u2019 executive committee for several years, and as Vice Chair will be next in line to serve as Chairman the following year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last week I was elected Vice Chair of the Energy Council during the council\u2019s quarterly meeting in Anchorage.
